Steps Tracker ("the app") is developed and maintained by Chervix Studios (individual developer). This policy explains what data the app collects, why it is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. The app is designed to work entirely offline — your step history, goals, and activity data are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to any server by Chervix Studios.
Step and Activity Data
The app reads your device's step counter sensor to count your daily steps, estimate distance walked, and calculate calories burned. This data is stored locally on your device in a private database. It is never transmitted to Chervix Studios or any third party by the app itself.
Physical Activity Permission
On Android 10 and above, the app requests the ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permission to access the step counter sensor. Without this permission, step counting will not function.
Notification Permission
On Android 13 and above, the app requests permission to send notifications. These are used only for daily step reminders, goal completion alerts, and motivational messages. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings.
No account required
The app does not require you to create an account. All data is stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted automatically.
Google AdMob Ad Network
The app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID), IP address, and interaction data to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised ads at any time in your device's Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalisation".

Google Firebase Analytics Analytics
The app uses Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app in aggregate (e.g. which screens are visited most, how long sessions last). This data is anonymised and aggregated — it is not linked to any personally identifiable information. Firebase Analytics may collect device model, operating system version, and app version.

Google Firebase Crashlytics Crash Reporting
The app uses Crashlytics to automatically report crashes and errors. When a crash occurs, Crashlytics collects the stack trace, device model, Android version, and app state at the time of the crash. This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs. No personally identifiable information is included in crash reports.
Crashlytics is only active in production (release) builds — it is disabled during development.
All step history, goals, achievements, and settings are stored locally on your device. Chervix Studios does not store any of this data on external servers.
You can delete all locally stored data at any time using the "Clear All Data" option in the app's Settings screen. Uninstalling the app also deletes all local data permanently.
Crash reports (via Crashlytics) are retained by Google for 90 days. Analytics data is retained per Google's standard Firebase Analytics retention settings (14 months by default, configurable by the developer in Firebase Console).
Steps Tracker is intended for users aged 13 and above. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.
